　　FRM考试始于1997年，每年11月中旬举行一次考试(2010年起分级考试时间为每年5月和11月)，FRM考试在中国北京、上海、香港和台湾等地设有考点，目前中国(包括香港、台湾)已取得FRM证书的已超过800人。FRM考试虽然设立时间不长，但发展极为迅速，全球报考人数以每年超38%的速度增长。

　　FRM已经得到华尔街和其他欧美金融机构与大型公司风险管理部门以及政府监管层的认同，并初步成为风险管理领域的权威的认证。2009年11月FRM考试只考一级，2010年五月起实行分级考试(PARTⅠ和PARTⅡ)，考试全部实行标准化，费用相对较低。在每年的5月及11月各举行一次。从2010年开始，考试上午为一级，下午为二级，各4个小时。一级100道四选一题目，二级80道四选一题目。

　　FRMpart1包括：风险管理基础Foundations of Risk Management、数量分析Quantitative Analysis、金融市场与金融产品Financial Markets and Products、风险建模Valuation and Risk Models。

　　FRMpart2包括：市场风险管理与测量Market Risk Measurement and Management、信用风险管理与测量Credit Risk Measurement and Management、操作及综合风险管理Operational and Integrated Risk Management、投资风险管理Risk Management and Investment Management、金融市场前沿话题Current Issues in Financial Markets.
